We wanted to let everyone know that because of his allergies, and further testing, Ethan is no longer a candidate for a service dog. It has been determined that the dog would add to his total allergen load, and would not be the best solution for him. With this news, our family was sad, but determined to find another way to help our son. We went to see a Doctor that was involved with the Duke University Desensitization study, and have decided that we will go forward with trying to desensitize him to nuts. It will take approximately 2 years, and we will need to bring him every 2 weeks to increase his dose, and he will be on a maintenance dose at home.
It is because of all of you and the donations that have been made that Ethan will be able to take part in desensitization. We are so thankful and can’t wait for the day that Ethan can go to school, or church, or just do the things that a little boy does, without the worry of going into anaphylaxis.
We love and thank you again for your support of our son and family.
